More Toxins in Indiana's Drinking Water via Coal Ash Waste

Two Indiana spills in the last five years have dumped toxic coal ash waste (over 30 million gallons for each spill) directly into the White River near Martinsville. In addition, the drinking water for East Mt. Carmel and the Town of Pines has already been contaminated by coal ash waste.

With little to any safeguards against coal ash, spills like these will continue to occur, and further groundwater contamination is inevitable.  Heavy reliance on polluting fossil fuels combined with a reluctance to diversify Indiana’s power supply with non-polluting sources will ultimately poison our natural resources and hurt public health.
